Stevens, Esquire
Scudder G. Stevens
holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the Pennsylvania State University
(1966), a Juris Doctor degree from Valparaiso University School of Law
(1969), and a Master of Laws from Widener University School of Law
(2008). After serving a clerkship at Gawthrop & Greenwood in West
Chester, PA in 1969, he became a partner in the Philadelphia general
practice and estates firm of Peck, Young & VanSant. He withdrew
from that partnership in 1980 to practice as a sole practitioner,
maintaining his principal office since 1984 in Chester County where he
also lives.
Scudder’s practice includes diverse and significant experience in the
general practice of law, with particular emphasis in elder law, estate
planning and administration, as well as financial, commercial,
corporate (for-profit and non-profit), litigation, real estate, and
domestic relations matters. He is an experienced administrator with
strong interpersonal skills, an accomplished advocate with strong
speaking, writing and negotiating skills, and a creative worker with a
drive for excellence, totally capable of handling the full needs of his
clientele.
Scudder has been active in the American, Pennsylvania, Philadelphia and
Chester County Bar Associations, particularly in matters relating to
continuing legal education. He has lectured on behalf of the
Philadelphia Bar Association and the Pennsylvania Bar Institute in the
area of Estate Planning and Administration, and co-authored PBI
Publication No. 93, Administration of Estates (1978 ). In addition to
his Bar involvement, Scudder participates in church, alumni and
community activities.
Kerry R.
Beck, Paralegal
Kerry Beck was born, raised and educated in Chester County,
Pennsylvania. Kerry launched her legal career in 1989 with one of
Chester County’s founding law firms, Wade, Wade & Wade.
Her broad experience in various areas of law have made her a valued
asset at Scudder G. Stevens, P.A. Kerry achieved her formal paralegal
education from The Pennsylvania State University in 1998. Kerry is a
member and Past President of the Chester County Paralegal Association;
an Association that aims to enhance the role of paralegals in the legal
community by providing a forum for the exchange of information and
encouraging legal education. Kerry and her husband reside in London
Britain Township and together, operate a family owned plumbing company.
Jill
L. Kolen, Legal Assistant
Jill Kolen started her legal career in 1987 with the firm of
Bennett, Bricklin & Saltzburg LLC. She worked at that firm’s
Philadelphia, Lancaster and West Chester offices until 2004. Jill’s
experience and knowledge regarding various areas of law and how legal
practice differs from county to county has made her an asset at Scudder
G. Stevens, P.A. Jill and her husband, Bill, reside in London Grove
Township, Chester County with their two children and pets. Jill
enjoys spending time with her family, gardening, swimming and boating.
